How to Submit Samples

Labeling Samples

  • Make sure to properly label the sample(s), indicating the name and identifying what side or location you want analyzed.
  • Submit an Analytical Services Request form with the sample(s) that describes the work you want done and references the assigned EAG job number (if available). Alternately, you may also submit a copy of our e-mail correspondence, or any handwritten notes made during initial consultation with one of our analysts.

Sample Preparation and Packaging

  • Handle samples with tweezers and gloves to avoid introducing contaminants.
  • Pack samples so that they will not brake in transit and nothing touches the surface to be analyzed.
  • Try not to secure samples with tape, because glues in the tape can spread over the entire sample surface, and sometimes the sample can break when we lift them.

Local Sample Pick-up

  • EAG-California offers a greater Silicon Valley sample pick-up service. Call 1 408 530 3500 or e-mail us at and give us your name, company name, building address or number, and phone number.
  • EAG-Taiwan offers a Hsinchu area sample pick-up service. Call (3) 5632303 and give us your name, company name, building location, and phone number.
  • EAG-Massachusetts offers a Peabody area sample pick-up service. Call 1 978 278 9500 and give us your name, company name, building location, and phone number.

Courier Delivery

  • Send samples by overnight courier to the location specified in our correspondence. If you are not sure, call us at 1 800 366 3867 to find out where they should be delivered.
  • EAG accepts sample delivery from 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. Deliveries outside of these hours can be scheduled with the destination laboratory.

International Shipments

  • Use UPS or Fed Ex, as other carriers will cause delays.
  • Include a commercial invoice with information for customs (required).
  • Describe the shipment as a silicon wafer for analysis or ion-implanted silicon wafer for analysis. You can also use semiconductor samples for analysis, if you want to be more general.
  • Do not claim a value over $100 on the commercial invoice. When the value is high, customs often flags the package. It also helps to declare "no commercial value."
  • Use the following tariff or harmonized codes:
    • 381800 for semiconductor samples and silicon wafers
    • 854150 for ion-implanted silicon wafers
  • Send samples to:
      Evans Analytical Group® LLC
    810 Kifer Road
